I'm an amateur when it comes to photography, so I wanted a good starter kit and this included everything I was looking for. You get a great deal for the price, I really couldn't ask for more. The D5100 does NOT have a depth of field preview, but that's not a very important feature for me. If it is for you, than you may want to consider getting a Canon. I'm very pleased with the camera so far, and even used it to record some fireworks in HD for the 4th of July. I hooked up the camera to my big screen TV and the quality was amazing.
